Am 18. Februar 2016 werden die Gewinner der 12th IFMCA Awards von der International Film Music Critics Association bekanntgegeben. Jetzt wurde die Liste der Nominierten veröffentlicht. Das Besondere an dem Award: Auch Soundtracks und Scores zu Serien sind im Rennen. In diesem Jahr sind sogar zwei Serien dabei, deren Soundtracks wird im Rahmen unserer Reihe Soundtrack der Woche bereits ausführlich vorgestellt haben: „Outlander“ mit Vol. I und Vol. II von Bear McCreary sowie „Fargo“ von Jeff Russo.
Weitere nominierte Serien sind „Carlos, Rey Emperador“ von Federico Jusid, „Texas Rising“ von Bruce Broughton und John Debney sowie „Wolf Hall“ von Debbie Wiseman. Nominiert als Komponist ist außerdem mehrfach Michael Giacchino, den wir hier mit seinem Soundtrack zu Lost schonmal vorgestellt haben.
Was auch auffällt: Auf der Nominierungsliste stehen zwei ganz alte, etablierte Komponisten, die jeweils gleich vier Nominierungen erhalten haben. Da ist zum einen John Williams für den Star Wars Score und Ennio Morricone für den Score zum Quentin Tarantino-Film „The Hateful Eight“.
Was mich persönlich neben den Nominierungen für Bear McCreary, Jeff Russo und Michael Giacchino freut, ist, dass auch die zwei Labels Intrada und vor allem La-La-Land so viele Nominierungen bekommen haben. Die beiden Labels bemühen sich echt, sorgfältig zusammengestellte Soundtracks – auch für Nischen – zu produzieren. Das gehört wirklich einmal ausgezeichnet.
