Seriale 2023: So lief unser Quiz & das sind die Gewinner-Serien

Am vergangenen Wochenende war ein Teil von uns bei der „Seriale“ in Gießen. Zum neunten Mal hat das Festival zu kurzformatigen Serien stattgefunden, zu dem wir euch vorab einen Veranstaltungstipp geliefert hatten. Etwas eigennützig, zugegebenermaßen, haben wir doch dort selbst ein unterhaltsames Serien-Quiz veranstaltet.

Drei Runden á zehn Fragen zu Serien hatten Kira, Fabio und ich im Gepäck, als es in den größten Saal des Kinocenter Gießens ging. Abwechslungsreich in Art, Genre und Schwierigkeitsgrad. Auch wenn der Saal etwas voller und die Zeit etwas länger hätte sein dürfen (das lag bestimmt daran, dass das „Seriencamp“ einfach kurzerhand auf die gleiche Woche gewechselt hat…), hat es großen Spaß bereitet, die Leute vor die ein oder andere Herausforderung zu stellen und für einige „Ahhh!“-Momente zu sorgen. Da das Quiz zunächst auf Teams ausgelegt worden war und wir uns spontan dazu entschieden haben, die Leute einzeln antreten zu lassen, war es etwas schwerer, aber ein paar Leute konnten die Hälfte der kniffligen Fragen oder vereinzelt auch mehr lösen. Über die vielen positiven Rückmeldungen im Nachgang haben wir uns sehr gefreut!

Aktuell wird überlegt, wie wir das Quiz noch zweit- oder drittverwerten können. Vielleicht übersetzen wir die Fragen ins Deutsche zurück und machen bei Zeiten mal einen Live-Stream über Twitch, an dem ihr auch teilnehmen könnt. Wäre das was für euch? Ansonsten laden wir die Videos vielleicht einfach auf YouTube hoch und machen einen Blogbeitrag – so könnt ihr auch „mitspielen“, wenn auch ohne direkte Konkurrenz.

Zu gewinnen gab es auch einige tolle Preise. An dieser Stelle nochmals vielen Dank an unsere Freunde von Radbag, Playmobil, Winning Moves und Panini Comics, die wundervolle Gewinne für den Preispool zur Verfügung gestellt haben! Die Gewinner:innen haben sich jedenfalls extrem gefreut.

Ein bisschen Werbung für den Blog konnten wir dann auch noch machen (und vielleicht sogar neue Autor:innen finden), wobei neues Merch geholfen hat, das wir im Vorfeld für das Event angefertigt hatten. Vielleicht sollten wir bei Zeiten nochmal eine kleine Verschenk-Aktion hier im Blog mit dem Rest machen…?

Screenings

Natürlich gab es auch abseits unseres Quiz einiges auf der Seriale 2023 zu sehen – insbesondere zahlreiche Serien. Wir haben abends noch ein Screening sehen können, bei dem auch einige aus Cast und Crew der Titel zum nachfolgenden Q&A anwesend waren, was besonders spannend war, da diese aus allerlei Ländern weltweit angereist waren (sogar aus den USA!).

Es wurde aber nicht nur geschaut, sondern auch gewählt. Alle im Rahmen des Festivals gefeatureten Serien konnten diverse Awards einheimsen. Für die „Pilot Jury“ hat unter anderem unser AWESOMER Nils einen Teil der Jury gebildet und mitbestimmt, welche Produktion die beste erste Folge bereitgestellt hat.

Den großen Festival-Award für die beste Serie hat die argentinische Produktion „Death Phone“ einsacken können. Hier alle Award-prämierten Serien im Überblick sowie abschließend noch die Jury-Begründungen zur Auswahl.

Series Jury | Statement Best Series:

„We had the pleasure of watching all of the wonderful nominations this year, and yet the difficult task of picking just one overall winner. This production took all of the elements we have been awarding here and brought them together into a really well-rounded series. From the original premise to the visual effects that helped bring it all to life, this series kept us all hooked.“

Pilots Jury | Statement Best Pilot:

„This series is an original proposal with captivating script that leaves you wanting more. We highlight the technical quality, the use of special effects that enhance the story development, and the performances of its cast. Without a doubt, the whole crew has done a great job.“

Documentary Jury | Statement Best Documentary:

„A poetic, daring and innovative series mosaic that portraits a vulnerable and intimate bouquet of diverse individuals. It leaves an appetite for human beings and encourages a reflection of the self.“

Animation Jury | Statement Best Animation:

„The winner is Tito Bilbao by Jonatan Pereira and Lucas de Costa. Tito Bilbao tells the dramatic journey of a washed-up soccer commentator in a charmingly exaggerated way. Soccer is an arena that can be easily overloaded with clichés and lame jokes. But the creators chose for a quirky satire that embraces its flawed characters. Auditive and visual stylistic means are well balanced, as none of them is pushed into the foreground. They all follow the beautiful rhythm of the narrative that doesn’t overwhelm the viewer but charmingly takes them by the hand. Thus the focus lies on the overall work of art. But we would like to particularly mention the script that charmed us: very funny writing that – without obsessing on big gag density – draws a surprising plot while staying very close to its cranky characters. Viewing habits are charmingly broken by hints that are not necessarily redeemed, but casually come by – as in real life. An animated series like this is usually a big production that requires many hands that lead to unwanted compromises. But through an admirable reduction of stylistic devices to the core of the narrative, Jonathan and Lucas have succeeded to share a very personal vision with us. Many thanks.“

„Filmmaking is a collaborative art form, but it still requires a strong leader to guide the team to create a believable story. The director creates the tone, decides the vision and shapes the performances to make the audience laugh or cry. We feel this director did just that, creating a production that left us both uncomfortable at times, yet also inspired for change.“

„This year’s die Seriale’s Nominees are absolutely incredible! It’s an honor to be here to announce Best Actress. This actress brought her character to life in such a dynamic way that we couldn’t help but be swept up by the emotions on display through out the series.“
